BAY POINT — The driver of a truck backed into a crowd of people in a parking lot early on Saturday, injuring at least nine human being, including one that later on died at a hospital, authorities said.

The driver backed right into the crowd “at a high price of speed” about 1:50 a.m. in the parking lot of La Finca Restaurant in the 700 block of Port Chicago Highway, according to the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office.
